AFOP Holds Successful Leadership Conference in Alexandria, VA

Despite the persistent ice, snow, and freezing temperatures, AFOP members came together from all parts of the country in Alexandria Old Town, Virginia for its annual two-day Leadership Conference last month. On Tuesday, February 3, members participated either in the AFOP Board meeting or a 4-hour comprehensive training on outreach, marketing, and the leader’s role in creating a safe culture. On Wednesday, February 4, officials from the U.S. Department of Labor shared the latest NFJP policy guidance, developments from the Employment & Training Administration, Registered Apprenticeship tie-ins, and more.

We made sure to have a little fun, too – attending a hockey game (the Caps won!), singing karaoke, and auctioning off AFOP’s artwork. George Washington Carver even joined us ‘in the flesh’ at lunch on Wednesday for a special treat.

We hope you enjoyed yourselves!! See you again next year!
