PathStone Corporation Board of Directors Inducts David Strauss into the Advocate Hall of Fame
June 19, 2012–Galloway, New Jersey—Today, PathStone Corporation Board of Directors inducted David Strauss, the Executive Director of the Association of Farmworker Opportunity Programs (AFOP), into their Advocate Hall of Fame. PathStone, an AFOP member agency that operates the National Farmworker Jobs program in six states, including Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Vermont, Ohio, and Puerto Rico, recognized Strauss for his dedicated advocacy and leadership of the association over the last 11 years.
Stuart Mitchell, the CEO and President of PathStone, as well as a member of the Advocate Hall of Fame, presented Strauss with the award.
“David has provided the visionary and creative leadership required to establish a powerful voice on behalf of farmworkers and the organizations that serve them,” noted Mitchell during the presentation. “[He] has collaborated with this impressive network of farmworker advocates to successfully protect and expand much needed services to those who harvest the food we enjoy each day. We are pleased and honored to recognize David for his heartfelt commitment to farmworkers.”
The ceremony took place on PathStone’s 30th anniversary of service to farmworkers in New Jersey. PathStone board members, staff, and community partners were in attendance for the important celebration. The event also included the induction of two other outstanding individuals. Jane Nutter, of PathStone Corporation, and Emilie Montgomery, of East Coast Migrant Head Start Project, were also welcomed as distinguished members of the Advocate Hall of Fame for their remarkable careers as advocates of education and social justice for the children of migrant and seasonal farmworkers. Strauss, Nutter, and Montgomery join a notable group of distinguished advocates who have received this venerated recognition since the establishment of the Advocate Hall of Fame in 1982.
Mitchell stated, “PathStone Corporation is a founding member of AFOP and very proud to be a part of the rich legacy of farmworker advocacy for more than 40 years. For the last 11 years David has led the association with distinction and as he retires later this year he can be very proud of the strong foundation he leaves for the next executive director.”
